Mercenaries.

When mercs involve in a fight regardless of attacking or defending.
Do 100% of mercs die ONLY after inflicting damage? Or some of mercs die BEFORE inflicting damage thus only some mercs live to do damage and then die.

as a rule mercenaries first inflict damage and then die (or not). However there might be a great number of different factors (like some part of troops not taking part in battle) which can change the battle outcome.
